Abramson Announces Cyber-Cycling Initiative

Monday June 2, 2003

Mayor Jerry Abramson today announced that Louisville’s recycling efforts are entering the cyber age this week.

Computer equipment, cell phones, digital cameras, video cassette recorders and compact disc players can be dropped off at two area recycling centers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 6 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 7.

To draw attention to the effort, radio commercials will be running throughout the week on area stations.

No major appliances will be accepted in the program.

“This program represents an environmentally safe way to dispose of any unwanted electronic equipment,” Abramson said. “It has the added benefit of reducing the space and costs for landfill operations.”

The Louisville Metro Waste Management District will conduct the program at the following locations:
1. Metro Recycling Center 595 Hubbards Lane 2. Metro Waste Reduction Center 636 Meriwether Avenue
