Summer Lunch 2004 Planning Underway CAP Now Accepting Site Applications

The Louisville Metro Community Action Partnership (CAP)- has begun preparations for the 2004 Summer Lunch Program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Division of School & Community Nutrition of the KY Department of Education.

The Summer Lunch Program provides a nutritious free lunch to youth 18 years of age and under and/or participants enrolled in public private, non-profit school program established for the mentally or physically disabled. All children are served the same meal at no charge.

Any non-profit, community based organization, church, neighborhood council or other organization interested in participating as a Summer Lunch Program site should submit their letter of intent to:

Letters of intent will be accepted through Monday, May 3rd, 2004. Sites will be selected based on the presence of children in the geographic area that are financially eligible to receive free/reduced price lunches throughout the school year. At least 50% of the children served at any site must meet this criteria established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The selected sites will be located throughout Metro Louisville. Special menu needs should be indicated in the letter of intent.
