Mayor Jerry Abramson and The Cordish Company today announced the addition of T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant and bar to 4th Street Live!

“A quality casual dining restaurant like T.G.I. Friday’s is a great addition to the 4th Street Live! line-up,” said Mayor Jerry Abramson.

“We are extremely pleased that T.G.I. Fridays will be joining the 4th Street Live! entertainment district,” said Blake L. Cordish, Vice President of The Cordish Company. “The restaurant combines of one of the great national brands with one of the premier regional restaurant operators – the Bistro Group. It is incredibly positive that national chains such as T.G.I. Fridays are locating in downtown Louisville.”

T.G.I. Friday’s will be an 8,000 square foot restaurant and bar on the ground floor of 4th Street Live!, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant will feature more than 75 menu items ranging from classic American to Italian entrees.

The newest Friday’s is among the first in the region with the chain’s new contemporary interior design, which features lighter colors, tile floors, oak tables and classic décor, said Jim Combs, president of the Bistro Group, a family-owned, Cincinnati-based company that owns more than 35 restaurant franchises.

The company, the second largest Friday’s franchisee in the United States, owns two other Friday’s in Louisville, 2311 Lime Kiln Road and 9990 Linn Station Road in Plainview. Downtown Louisville’s allure and The Cordish Company’s strong track record made it a compelling choice, Combs said.

“I lived in Louisville for a number of years and it’s one of my favorite cities,” he said. “We’re excited to be a part of the mix of tenants that are destined to make 4th Street Live! a great success.” T.G.I. Friday’s is the latest of the top national and regional retail and entertainment businesses to join the 4th Street Live! line-up. Hard Rock Café, Red Star Lounge, McFadden’s Bar and Restaurant, Borders Bookstore and Premier Fitness are among the tenants announced thus far.

4th Street Live! will feature a dramatic glass ceiling which will span 4th Street. It will feature outdoor seating for the restaurants and a permanent performance stage for live entertainment. The glass ceiling will also be used to hang lights and video screens. The result will be a spectacular outdoor room that will tie the history of 4th Street with the urban vitality of the new 4th Street Live! 4th Street Live! will reopen the street to vehicular traffic on a regular basis, creating Louisville’s largest entertainment space. The combination of entertainment, retail and nightlife with imaginative and innovative design will create a unique and vibrant destination.

Construction is proceeding on schedule with an initial opening slated in the spring. The Cordish Company, a Baltimore-based development company, is one of the country’s leading and most respected developers of retail entertainment projects in the United States.

Other entertainment developments of The Cordish Company include: The Power Plant, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor; Bayou Place, Houston, Texas; Power Plant Live! Baltimore, Maryland; Charleston Place, Charleston, South Carolina; and Trolley Square, Salt Lake City, Utah.
