Hundreds of Students Take Part in Brightside Youth Summit
Monday September 24, 2007
Over 200 Louisville area students from 37 schools will participate in Brightside’s Youth Summit. The summit encourages students to discuss environmental issues, and teaches them how to launch environmentally-friendly initiatives in their schools.
The summit will be held at the Louisville Science Center at 727 West Main Street on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Mayor Jerry Abramson and Superintendent Sheldon Berman will welcome the students.
The Green & Healthy Schools Program empowers students to investigate eight environmental topics in their schools: energy, health and safety, solid waste, green spaces, indoor air quality, transportation, hazardous chemicals, and water.
Planning for Brightside’s Youth Summit was a collaborative effort between Brightside, JCPS Center for Environmental Education and U of L Center for Environmental Education.
