Mayor Unveils Searchable Map of Louisville Stimulus Projects

Wednesday October 14, 2009

Users may search by address

A new, online interactive map allows Louisville residents to search and discover where federally-funded stimulus investments are occurring in their neighborhoods.

The map — available at www.louisvilleky.gov/recovery — features 2,500 stimulus projects, everything from sidewalk improvements to investments at Jefferson County Public Schools and the Transit Authority of River City.

“This easy-to-use map allows people to zoom into their neighborhood street and see exactly how their tax dollars are being spent,” Mayor Jerry Abramson said.

By simply typing in a street address, people may learn about projects near their homes or work. A star represents a single project and users may click on the star to see detailed information about that particular project.

Louisville is scheduled to receive about $300 million in stimulus funding this year and next. The money is paying for projects ranging from new buildings, such as the Beechmont Firehouse, to the purchase of new public transit hybrid buses to the synchronization of suburban traffic lights.
