Louisville’s new downtown arena is on schedule and on budget, Mayor Jerry Abramson said on Wednesday, June 17, while touring the construction site for the first time.

“We will be playing basketball here in November 2010,” Abramson said as he stood in what will become the arena seating bowl. Abramson, arena authority chairman Jim Host and members of Louisville media spent an hour touring this site, where 200 to 300 people are working daily.

The $238 million, 22,000-seat arena is being constructed at Second and Main streets.

“This will be the best college basketball arena in the country,” Host said.
