Find out about my Solid Waste Services
Metro Solid Waste offers a variety of services that make waste disposal both convenient and environmentally sound. They regulate the solid waste industry in Louisville, provide garbage collection in the Urban Services District and promote waste reduction and recycling throughout Louisville Metro.
Recycling is available to all Louisville Metro residents, either through Curbside Recycling collection or through Drop-off Recycling Locations. Many small cities provide curbside recycling collection. Private waste haulers are required by Metro Solid Waste Regulations to offer curbside recycling collection to any customers who request it.
Four times each year, Metro Solid Waste Management Department provides Urban Services District residents with free disposal of bulk waste items such as mattresses, furniture, appliances and up to four tires through a program called Project PickUp. In December, a schedule of the Project PickUp collection dates for the coming year is mailed to every household within the district.
