Louisville – In an effort to find more local, state and national solutions to the challenge of abandoned and vacant properties, Councilwoman Attica Scott (D-1) recently had the opportunity to discuss the issue with Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky).

Senator Paul was the featured speaker at last week’s Louisville Forum where Councilwoman Scott was a first-time attendee.

"Metro Councilwoman Attica Scott took a few minutes to visit with me after the Louisville Forum. I'm interested in her perspective on removing abandoned properties in west Louisville," said Senator Paul.

The Councilwoman and Senator Paul have committed to maintaining an open line of communication on this topic. And as Vice Chair of the Metro Council Ad Hoc Vacant Properties Committee, Scott looks forward to working with Councilman Kelly Downard (R-16), the Committee's Chair, on hearing more about Senator Paul's vacant properties initiatives.

She appreciates Senator Paul's commitment and focus on west Louisville where some neighborhoods, like Parkland in District 1, are experiencing vacant property levels of thirty percent or more.

"I am more concerned about finding solutions to some of our most pressing infrastructure and neighborhood needs than about partisan politics," said Scott. "Senator Paul and I have ideological differences on some issues, but we agree that we must be more aggressive in addressing abandoned and vacant properties which is a mutual area of concern."

Please contact Councilwoman Scott's office at 574-1101 for more information on the Ad Hoc Committee on Vacant Properties.
