Louisville – Councilwoman Attica Scott (D-1) announces the 3rd Annual “Cleanup for Christmas” will begin on Friday, December 20th with a focus on cleaning up abandoned properties in the West Louisville area of District 1.
“Our office continues this project as a way to supplement the good work of the City grass cutting crews and because we still receive a large volume of calls regarding neglected and overgrown lots in District 1," says Scott. “This holiday, we are focusing attention in West Louisville.”
The Councilwoman is using $5,000 from District 1’s Neighborhood Development Funds for the cleanup effort to cover the cost of overtime for grass cutting on 27 properties in District1. Those properties are located on the following streets: Greenwood, Virginia, Garland Dumesnil, Penway and Kentucky Avenues. The properties are also located on 31st, 32nd ,38th,42nd,43rd, Beech, Hemlock and Catalpa Streets.
“As Vice Chair of the Vacant Properties Committee, my goal is to assist getting lawns cut in advance of the spring when we often find ourselves, as a City, playing catch up,” says Scott.
