Biography

Dr. Judith Green has been a mother, medical professional and civic activist most of her adult life. Now, for the first time, she enters the field of elected government service. Dr. Green was elected to District 1 in the 2006 May Primary and was unopposed in the November election.

District 1 includes the areas of Lake Dreamland, Kramers Lane, Cane Run Road, Campground Road and Bells Lane. The area also includes Virginia Avenue and Garland Avenue between 26th Street and the Ohio River. The District covers much of the western end of Metro Louisville from Southwestern Parkway along the Watterson Expressway.

In 2008, she was elected Vice-Chair of the Metro Council's Majority Caucus. She serves on the Budget, Health & Human Needs and Transportation & Public Committee.

A native of Henderson, Kentucky, she has been married to James P. Green for 28 years. She is a mother having raised 2 biological and 11 adopted children. Dr. Green is also a strong advocate for foster parenting. In the last two years, she has been a foster parent to eight teenage boys.

“Children are our future and we must do all we can to help each one of them,” she says. “I look forward to helping more children and their families as I begin serving this district.”

For more than 20 years, Dr. Green has been a practicing dentist graduating from the University of Louisville

Among her top priorities for District 1 quality of life issues involving toxic air. She also plans to focus on bringing more economic development to the District and at the same time address concerns of crime. Dr. Green has also expressed a definite interest in improving the education of children.

Dr. Green has been a regional and national board member of Jack and Jill of America, a service organization which seeks to improve the education and care of African American children. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She is a member of the Kentucky Dental Society and the Kentucky Association of Women Dentists.

She is also a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church.

“I look forward to talking and working with the people of District 1,” says Dr. Green. “I want to encourage then to call my office with a problem or concern and together we will work to get the problem solved.”
