Important Notice for District 4 Residents:
Upcoming Changes for Garbage, Recycling/Yard Waste Collection Days

    Citizens who live within the Urban Services District (old city limits) should watch for a mailer that provides information about changes to their scheduled garbage collection and recycling/yard waste collection days. More than 77,550 households and small businesses in the Urban Services will be affected, with a change to one or both of their collection days. 

The changes take effect January 9, 2012. Residents will need to place their trash, recycling and yard waste at their normal collection site on the specific days of the week listed on the mailer. Citizens with questions about changes to their garbage or recycling/yard waste collection days should call MetroCall 311 or visit www.louisvilleky.gov/solidwaste





KentuckianaWorks to Award

$800,000

in Job-training Funds

Money can be used tocomplete college degree in high-demand fields

 

Unemployed andunderemployed workers in the seven-county KentuckianaWorks region can now applyfor KentuckianaWorks Scholarships that will fund tuition costs, books andsupplies for up to two years. Nearly $800,000 in federal funding is availablefor training in targeted occupations in six career sectors.  Scholarshipswill provide up to $4,000 a year for two years. Training must lead to technicalcertification, associate’s degrees or completion of the last two years of abachelor’s degree. In addition, up to $600 will be available during training toassist with costs like uniforms, tools or gear, licensure and exam fees,short-term childcare and transportation assistance.
