For more than six decades, the late Bishop A.T. Moore provided unselfish service to Metro Louisville and the congregation of the Moore Temple COGIC.
On Saturday, December 3rd, Councilman David Tandy (D-4) will pay tribute to his service by placing an honorary street sign near the Temple Bishop Moore loved so well.
“The Fourth District has a rich history of leadership in both civic and spiritual, and it is important that we take every opportunity to highlight those individuals that have shaped and strengthened these qualities in our community,” says Tandy. “Bishop A. T. Moore’s achievements and integrity have not only made him worthy of honor but made him a national treasure in the United States”
Tandy will be joined by local political, business and community leaders for the designation an honorary sign at 23rd and Broadway. The sign will read “Bishop A.T. Moore Way” between Magazine Street and Broadway. The event will get underway at 12:00pm with a special tribute service at the Moore Temple Church of God in Christ, 2315 W Broadway.
Bishop Moore was a nationally recognized historian, recording artist, bishop and pioneer. He was proclaimed by the late presiding Bishop Louis Henry Ford to be "A Living Legend in the Church of God in Christ" worldwide. Bishop Moore passed away in February of 2010.
“It is fitting that we honor those who dedicated their lives to guiding others. Hopefully, as this sign guides travelers through our city it will serve as a reminder of the people who have lead through their life and actions,” says Tandy.
