Louisville – As Louisville Metro is continuing to focus attention on helping young people in education, activities and jobs, Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5) is encouraging the community to get involved with the 3:1 Project of the Academy @ Shawnee sponsored by Principal Houston Barber.
Dr. Barber says” I dream about 1000 people being in attendance to learn about ways they can support our students with clearly outlined next steps.”
“The 3:1Project focuses on three adults for every child,” says Hamilton. “It is an opportunity to help young people at the school by being there for them in many phases of everyday life.”
There will be a community conversation on Thursday, May 8th at the Academy for Dr. Barber to explain the 3:1 Project’s goals. It covers many areas including: social / emotional; behavioral; and an advocate / mentor.
“This is a chance to make a meaningful difference in the life of a young person,” says Hamilton
The meeting for the 3:1 Project community conversation will begin at 6:00pm. It will take place at the Academy@ Shawnee Auditorium. 4018 West Market Street.
