Louisville – Councilman David James is encouraging women in District 6 to fight breast cancer through prevention with the Brandies Apartments Health Fair on Saturday, April 13th.
“The Health Fair is an easy way for women to take part in important screenings that could make the difference in the fight against the killing disease,” says James. “Mammograms are effective in the fight against breast cancer.”
The Health Fair is being presented by Harambee Health Center Inc. and New Directions Housing Corporation from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The Brandeis Apartments Are located at 925 South 26th Street.
The mammograms will be performed by the James Graham Brown Cancer Center. The program is available to women over 40 years of age and older. It is no cost to eligible women who have insurance. U of L Hospital will take care of the billing for insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.
Appointments are required for the mammograms. The Kentucky Cancer Program will schedule the appointment. Simply call 852 -6312 and schedule the appointment.
“I encourage everyone to take the time to prevent this disease for yourself and your family,” says James.
