Louisville – Spring has finally arrived and Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh is asking for volunteers to help enhance the beauty of this new season by participating in the 9th District’s 16th Annual Spring Community Cleanup on Saturday, April 5th.
“Now that winter is over, this will be the first chance to get out into the district and see what needs to be cleaned up in preparation for the Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade on April 19,” says Ward-Pugh. “We will spend time picking up trash and debris and we could use as much help as possible.”
Volunteers should check in at 8:30 am at the Keats and Frankfort Avenue Public Parking lot on Saturday. Volunteers will be provided with bags and gloves, as well as t-shirts on a first-come, first-served basis. Before the cleanup begins at 9:00am, volunteers will have a chance to mingle and enjoy coffee and breakfast donated by Heine Brothers’ Coffee and the Clifton McDonald’s.
“I have always found our cleanups to bring out the best in those who take pride in our district,” says Ward-Pugh. “Brightside has been a great partner in our cleanups. I am impressed that every year so many people, not only here in the Ninth District but all over Metro Louisville take a Saturday to remind everyone what community pride is all about. I hope you’ll come out and work along me and my staff and take an opportunity to meet 9th District candidates who might be participating at the event.”
