Louisville – Since its launch in August of last year, www.mygreentriangle.com has provided resources for people to become involved in greening our community. Now, the site is interactive to allow individuals, businesses, and groups to track their progress towards sustainability and map community green features.

“Our site is now interactive,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9). “These new upgrades enable community members to share what they are doing to become more sustainable and make connections with neighbors who are also involved in this work.”

The website has several new features available. Users can now create a profile to track their progress on green issues. This data will be pooled to show the combined results of the 9th District, such as how much energy has been saved by using energy efficient light bulbs, or how many gallons of water have been kept out of the sewer system through the use of rain barrels, rain gardens and downspout disconnects. Responses will also populate a community map of green features including rain gardens, bee hives, fruit trees, and vegetable gardens. Neighbors can use the map to make connections with others who are working on sustainability. There is also a forum to discuss green issues.

“When people feel connected to something, when they feel they are involved, we all benefit,” says Ward-Pugh. “The Green Triangle website is one of the ways we can gain information about all the good work our community is doing to create a more sustainable future. Using this information we can create connections and build community.”

Visit the Green Triangle website to get started tracking your progress towards sustainability at www.mygreentriangle.com. For more information, contact Councilwoman Ward-Pugh’s office at 574-1109 or email Katie Holmes at katie.holmes@louisvilleky.gov.
