Metro Council Update - January 4 Metro Council Meeting
On Thursday, January 4, the Louisville Metro Council elected Rick Blackwell (District 12) as the Council President for the 2007 year. Following the meeting, Councilman Kramer issued the following statement:
"It has been an honor to serve as the Metro Council President this past year. I am very proud of the work we have been able to accomplish: passing the Arena Bond Ordinance, establishing a new agenda management system for the Council, setting a fair and balanced committee structure, and doing my best to run efficient Council meetings.
I was hopeful to be re-elected as President and felt that my performance and bi-partisan approach merited another year. Unfortunately, last night's vote was based on partisanship rather than on performance and that disappoints me. I will continue to work with all of my colleagues this year and wish Councilman Blackwell well in his upcoming term.
In January, I promised that District 11 would still be my number one priority and I am proud that we have kept that promise. We kept a busy schedule this past year with town hall meetings, neighborhood roundtable workshops, and trolley tours, with the intent of ensuring strong communication between our office and our constituents. I would like to thank all District 11 residents who supported us this past year. We look forward to 2007 with the hope of making District 11 an even better place to live."
