Councilman Kramer to Help Lead National Information, Technology and Communications Group as Vice Chair

Councilman Kramer has been appointed Vice Chair of the Information, Technology and Communications steering committee of the National League of Cities (NLC) for 2008.
Councilmember Kramer’s appointment was announced recently by NLC President Cynthia McCollum, councilmember, Madison, Ala. The committee is one of NLC’s seven standing committees that develop policy positions and advocate on behalf of NLC on national issues involving municipal governments.
Each NLC policy and advocacy committee has a membership of approximately 150 officials from cities and towns throughout the nation. Policies adopted by the policy and steering committees are brought before the entire NLC membership at the annual business meeting, held each year during the NLC Congress of Cities conference. Once approved by the League’s membership, the NLC National Municipal Policy serves as the basis for the League’s advocacy on behalf of all local governments.
“We applaud the considerable contributions that our mayors, councilmembers/commission members make in their local communities. Certainly many of them work outside of their jobs at city hall. When city officials step up to serve on steering committees representing Kentucky on a national scale, we are proud of their commitment,” said Sylvia L. Lovely, executive director/CEO of the Kentucky League of Cities.
The National League of Cities is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 U.S. cities, towns and villages, which collectively serve 218 million people
