Safety Concerns in Mid Dale Lane - Klondike Lane Corridor Discussed

On Wednesday, March 21, Councilman Kramer and District 11 staff walked the Mid Dale Lane corridor, discussing safety concerns with neighbors. Residents have expressed concern over recent break-ins, speeding, and difficulty driving through Mid Dale Lane at the Klondike Lane intersection.

The District 11 Office is working with Major J.T. Smith and the 6th Division Metro Police Department to address these concerns. Increased patrols have been issued for this area and the unit's FLEX platoon has made this area a point of emphasis.

Residents were also invited to attend the upcoming District 11 Town Hall meeting (see article below) on Tuesday, April 3 where this issue will be discussed. Several residents have expressed interested in re-activating their block watch association.

If you need more information about this issue or would like a copy of the letter distributed to the residents of Mid Dale Lane, please call the District 11 Office at 574-1111. Criminal or suspicious activity in the Mid Dale - Klondike area or in any area in District 11 should be reported to the 6th Division LMPD at 574-2187 (after 11 p.m., call 574-2111) or the police tip line at 574-LMPD.

City-Wide Pothole Repair Blitz Begins
Crews to Fill Potholes Every Day in March

On March 1, crews from the Louisville Metro Division of Streets and Roads began a month-long, city-wide pothole repair blitz. During the blitz, crews expect to cover 1,000 miles of road and fill 3,500 potholes.

Each day in March, weather permitting, ten crews made up of five employees will concentrate on filling potholes and pavement failures created by the weather. Pothole teams will begin work in the center of the city and work their way out to the far corners of the community in a methodical fashion. Each crew is assigned specific geographic areas. To report a pothole, please call MetroCall at 311. Including a nearby address makes this process happen much quicker.

Last year the city filled 13,926 potholes and filled 202,895 square feet of road surface, which translates into 4.7 acres of asphalt. So far this year, crews have filled 2,513 potholes and filled 15,605 square feet of asphalt. A relatively mild winter this year has resulted in a significant decrease in the number of potholes reported, when compared to prior years.
