Councilwoman Butler Appointed to National League of Cities Community and Economic Development Steering Committee

Louisville – Councilwoman Marianne Butler (D-15) has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2014 Community and Economic Development Steering Committee.
This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation and international competitiveness.
The appointment was announced by NLC President Chris Coleman, mayor, St. Paul, Minn.
“I look forward to serving on this committee. This appointment gives Louisville a seat at the table when discussing the economy and its impact on our cities and towns” said Butler.
As a member of the committee, Councilwoman Butler will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the Administration and at home.
Butler was elected to the Metro Council in 2006 and reelected in 2010. This is the fourth year she will serve as Chair of the Metro Council’s Budget Committee which oversees and approves government appropriations and spending for Metro Louisville.
