Jefferson County Attorney gives green light to Metro Council for increasing minimum wage
The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office has offered a formal opinion that the Metro Council does have the power to increase the minimum wage locally. Earlier this year, several members of the Council asked for the County Attorney’s direction in trying to determine if the Council has the legal power to raise the minimum wage.

Metro Council President Jim King (D-10) has announced the establishment of a new Animal Services ad-hoc committee. The committee will be tasked with reviewing reports on thevillevoice.com regarding Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) and their handling of an animal under their control.

Metro Council presents Jefferson County Legislative Delegation with resolution in support of restori
As a way of encouraging the Kentucky General Assembly to move forward on the issue, members of the Louisville Metro Council have formally presented Jefferson County’s Legislative Delegation with a signed copy of a Council resolution which calls for a statewide vote on the restoration of voting rights for those who have served their time.

Metro Council members sponsoring Planning and Zoning 101 Workshops for residents in Metro Louisville
In an effort to help residents, neighborhood groups and others understand zoning issues and the planning process for development in Metro Louisville; several Metro Council members are sponsoring workshops with the goal of explaining the many aspects of the zoning process. Two “Planning and Zoning 101” Workshops are set for Tuesday, June 24th and Tuesday, July 8th at the Louisville Urban League.

After reviewing the Mayor’s proposed budget and holding budget hearings for the departments to explain their programs; on Thursday night, the Louisville Metro Council passed a balanced budget totaling $688,606,800.00.
