Metro Councilman David Tandy (D) 4 will lead a formal dedication of Merton Square on Tuesday, March 18th beginning at 7:30pm.

The square at Fourth and Muhammad Ali will be officially named in honor of Thomas Merton. A resolution honoring Merton and sponsored by Tandy was formally adopted at the March 13th meeting of the Louisville Metro Council.

Those wanting to participate in the event should gather at the George Garvin Brown Memorial Garden next to the Cathedral of the Assumption at 7:30pm. After opening remarks, those in attendance will move to Fourth and Muhammad Ali.
Councilman Tandy will offer remarks and then do the unveiling of Merton Square signage at the corner of 4th and Muhammad Ali. Following the unveiling, candles will be distributed and Judge Steve Mershon will offer a reflection on carrying the light away from this spot.
