In light of today’s ruling by Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Mary Shaw that dismisses the restraining order against liquor sales in four precincts (N104, N105, N107 and N109) of District 5, Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton has issued the following statement:

“We are pleased that the court granted the motion to dismiss and this ruling once again removes the temporary restraining order that had allowed alcohol sales to continue despite the votes and will of the voters in these four precincts in September.

The Shawnee residents have been on an up and down emotional journey as the courts have ruled and the opponents have appealed. Now the two courts have dismissed the lawsuits once again.

We are pleased that sales will stop tomorrow and wish that these establishments and their attorneys would respect the will of the voters.”
