Once again to assist Metro Louisville’s best and brightest future leaders, Council President Jim King (D) 10 has announced the second annual District 10 scholarship program.
“No one can place a value on education and we must help young people if we want to plan Metro Louisville’s future.” says King. “In 2007, we saw the need to lend a financial hand to deserving young people as they continue their education.”
A $1000 scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic school year will be awarded to a District 10 high school senior who has shown leadership and community involvement in the community.
“This program has shown that we must mentor and encourage young people to not only continue their scholastics careers but also it shows that community involvement is just as important if they wish top be future leaders,” says King.
Those high school seniors who wish to apply should pick up an application form from the District 10 office or go to www.louisvilleky.gov. An application can be downloaded from President King’s webpage.
High school seniors need to fill out the application as well as write an essay on their community involvement and two letters of recommendation with one from a teacher or instructor.
The deadline for applications is Saturday, May 15th, 2007.
All applications will be reviewed and a scholarship winner will be announced on Sunday, May 30th, 2008.
All information must be sent to Councilman King’s legislative aide at rob.holtzmann@louisvilleky.gov. Applications can also be mailed to: Mr. Rob Holtzmann, Legislative Aide, Metro Council – D10, 601 W. Jefferson Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40202.
