It is a unique opportunity to experience times gone by in the days when steamboats forded the Ohio River and a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
“The Folks at Riverside look forward to this event every year because it’s a nice way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon while reminding all of us of America’s past,” says Bob Henderson (D-14). “It is a chance to enjoy something very special.”
The Eighth Annual Riverside’s Old Fashion Ice Cream Social will get underway on Sunday, July 12th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Admission is free!
The Social is an afternoon of old fashioned games, miniature train rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, pony rides and a magic show. Some activities will require the purchase of a ticket such as pony rides, horse-drawn carriage rides and tours of the historic Farnsley-Moremen House.
There will be an ice cream eating contest at 3:00pm. Ehrler’s Ice Cream will be on sale. Musical entertainment provided by the Legendary Cruisers from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM and Flashpoint from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
“I would tell anyone who’s never been out to Farnsley-Moreman to come out and see what a great job they have done preserving the historic grounds for future generations,” says Henderson.
