It is a celebration of one of Louisville’s oldest communities. It is a chance for fun, entertainment and sharing the pride and the history of the Newburg area with a weekend of events.
“It is one of the many events I look forward to every year,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2). “I am happy to announce the 2009 Newburg Festival will get under way the first weekend of Saturday.”
The Festival will feature a return of the Newburg Idol Talent Show on Friday, September 4th. On Saturday, September 5th the Community Breakfast will highlight unity and spirit at Newburg Middle School. Later in the morning, the Newburg Festival Parade will get underway. Then live entertainment Saturday afternoon on through the evening. On Sunday, August 6th the Festival ends with a gospel concert and fireworks.
“There is something for everyone,” says Shanklin. “I am always amazed at the talented people we have in Newburg. We have many volunteers and groups who every year who make this Festival Something special.”
The Newburg Festival will be held in Petersburg Park located at the corner of East Indian Trail and Petersburg Roads.
There will be vendors and carnival rides on all three days.

“It is my hope that the people of Newburg will have a wonderful weekend,” says Shanklin. “This festival is also a time when many former residents of Newburg come back home to reminisce and we look forward to seeing them.”
