Weekend fun in District 8 with the Original Highlands Neighborhood Arts and Music Festival
Thursday September 10, 2009
It is an early September tradition that brings out the best in one of Louisville’s unique communities. This Saturday, September 12th, the Original Highlands Neighborhood Arts and Music Festival will get underway from 11:00am 11:00pm.
“If you have never had a chance to come to the Highlands, this event should be your invitation to come out and have fun on a Saturday afternoon,” says Councilman Tom Owen (D-8). “This is chance to walk around and see the shops, the people and have a good time.”
The Arts and Music Festival will feature a variety of local artists and live entertainment. There will also be vendor booths and activities for children. Baxter Avenue will be closed to traffic between Highland Avenue and Breckinridge Avenue.
There will be two stages on opposite ends of Baxter Avenue featuring live entertainment:
On the West Stage On the East Stage
Bodeco Grayson Capps & The Stumpknockers
Those Darlings Edgehill Avenue
The Yard Dogs The Mad Tea Party
Gutter Girls Bobby Falk Group
Hambone John Gage
“The people who make up the Original Highlands Neighborhood Association should be commended, along with all the businesses and volunteers who make this a fun day for everyone in Louisville Metro” says Owen.
