District 16 Councilman Kelly Downard is holding a meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at Dunn Elementary School to discuss the Indian Hills annexation issue.

Downard represents portions of the fourth class city of Indian Hills on the Metro Council and is interested in discussing why residents support or oppose annexation.

He invites residents in the targeted Indian Hills annexation areas to the meeting.

“This activity is currently in the legal arena and that may restrict my ability to affect the outcome,” Downard said. “However, I will try to help because of the numerous requests from residents on the issue. It is not my intent to become involved in the legal case.”

Downard also said the purpose of the meeting isn’t to count how many people support or oppose the proposal. Rather, it will be an opportunity to hear all sides of the issue for possible further activity. Dunn Elementary is located at 2010 Rudy Lane.
