District 23 Councilman James Peden, a major with the Highview Fire Department, has been a volunteer firefighter for more than 16 years. That service includes being a longtime participant in the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Peden will be collecting donations at the intersection of Outer Loop and Old Shepherdsville Road from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday.

“The Highview Fire Department has been the No. 1 collector for the Crusade - more than any corporate or private group - for the last five years,” Peden said. “I am proud to be a part of those efforts.”
