Councilwoman Madonna Flood will join representatives of Metro Parks and neighborhood residents to dedicate new playground equipment at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Farman Park. Farman Park sits between South Park Road and Farman Court, just west of Lazy Run Road.
Councilwoman Flood, D-24, worked to ensure the playground project was included in last year's budget, and appropriated an additional $2,395 from the 24th District Neighborhood Development Fund to resurface the basketball court at the park.
The playground equipment will feature four sides, ladders and interactive components. The project also includes a new paved walkway for accessibility.
Farman Park is one of six new playgrounds Metro Parks expects to complete this fiscal year. The total cost for the project, excluding the basketball court repaving, is $23,307.80.
