Second District Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin announced today that Light Up District 2 will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 in Newburg Park, at the corner of Indian Trail and Exeter Avenue.

Trees decorated by students from four elementary and middle schools in the district -- Indian Trail Elementary, T.J. Middle, Newburg Middle and Slaughter Elementary - will be placed throughout the park, and lights will be flipped on at 6 p.m. Other festivities include free hot chocolate, hot apple cider and cookies.

The event is sponsored by Councilwoman Shanklin and Metro Parks Department.
