The Louisville Metro Council will give the public an opportunity to voice opinions about proposed changes to escort service regulations. The Public Health & Safety Committee will have 30 minutes of public comment on the proposed ordinance at its June 16 meeting.
There will be an opportunity for five proponents of the changes and five opponents of the changes to speak. Each speaker will have three minutes to address the committee.
Councilman Hal Heiner, R-19, introduced an ordinance Thursday to clean up language regulating escort services. The changes would make the regulations less vague and, therefore, easier to enforce. The ordinance also would require a 500-foot distance from schools, homes and churches.
To sign up to speak, please call 574-1123 before noon Wednesday. Speaking slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. When you call, please give your name, address, phone number and whether you oppose or support the proposed changes to the current regulations.
The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the third floor council chambers of City Hall.
