Louisville Metro Council President Barbara Shanklin and members of the Council will honor all African-American principals in the Jefferson County Public School system during a ceremony to commemorate Black History Month. The event will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 in the Metro Council Chambers, third floor of City Hall, 601 W. Jefferson St.
"This ceremony is a celebration of leadership and accomplishments," said Shanklin, D-2, "an opportunity to recognize educators who have reached the distinction of becoming leaders in their schools, and serving as role models for thousands of young people."
Thirty-six educators will be honored.
A light reception will follow the ceremony. The public is invited to attend.
