Metro Council to support Boxes of Hope
The Louisville Metro Council is joining forces with the Salvation Army to support Boxes of Hope - shoe boxes filled with new small games, toys, crafts and activities to provide entertainment and a distraction to children displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
Council President Barbara Shanklin said the council will also be accepting toys and games suitable for children and families that don't fit inside a shoe box. Toys of a violent nature will not be accepted.
Collection will start Monday, Sept. 12 on all three floors of City Hall, 601 W. Jefferson Street.
The Salvation Army asks that boxes not contain food or breakable items.
The collection will continue through Friday, Sept. 23.
