Fifth District Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton today announced that applications are being accepted for the District 5 Dusk to Dawn Security Light Program, providing residents in her district who qualify with a security light for their home.
"This security light program will help enhance security and increase peace of mind for District 5 residents by making their homes less attractive to criminals," Hamilton said. "We are asking people to be a member of a block club or be willing to start a new block club so that we can make our neighborhoods safer and help reduce crime."
To qualify, residents must:
Currently own and reside in the property, which must be located in District 5;
Be below the 80 percent median income level for the Louisville Metro area;
Be a member of a block club, neighborhood watch program or neighborhood association, or willing to start one.
To apply for a security light, residents should contact Metro Housing Resource Center, which is administering the program, at 778-8664, or e-mail the agency at nhsky@ix.netcom.com. Homeowners must provide proof of income for all household members, a copy of the recorded deed and picture identification.
