Council President Barbara Shanklin and Councilman David Tandy announced today that they have joined with Stan Curtis, Kentucky Harvest, State Representative Reginald Meeks, the Bethel Housing Center and others to sponsor a benefit concert to be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 on the Belvedere.
Grammy-nominated hip hop artist R. Prophet and Nappy Roots will perform a free show, and attendees are encouraged to donate funds and food for hurricane survivors who will make their home in the Bluegrass State.
Kentucky Harvest will be stationed at the entrance of the Belvedere and attendees are encouraged to drop off canned goods. Dignitaries, community organizations, religious organizations and churches from all denominations have volunteered to collect gently-used clothes and monetary donations.
Local artists, dignitaries and community leaders will take the stage followed by the concert. Radio One air personality Mark Gunn with B-96 will be the host for the evening.
