Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin, D-2, has asked Metro inspectors to conduct an inspection sweep of the Newburg, Rangeland, Broadmoor and New Broadmoor communities, to ensure these neighborhoods stay safe and clean.
The three-week inspection blitz will begin the week of Aug. 15. Inspectors will be looking for properties with high grass or weeds; trash and rubbish, including discarded appliances such as refrigerators, washers and dryers; or unlicensed vehicles or vehicles in disrepair or parked in the yard.
Property owners found to have any of these conditions on their property will receive a citation, with fines ranging from $100 to $1,000.
"Our Newburg neighborhoods can be a beautiful and safe place to call home, if we all work together to eliminate weeds, trash and junked vehicles," Councilwoman Shanklin said.
