Fundraiser to help Sheckles family

Metro Council President Barbara Shanklin today announced a fundraiser to help the family of Frederica Sheckles, the seven-year-old child who died due to injuries sustained in a house fire in the Newburg area last week. The family of seven lost everything.
The benefit will be held Saturday, June 11 at the Fern Creek Fire House #1, 6200 Bardstown Road. The event will feature games and children's activities from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m., and a dance and auction for adults from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Organizers are suggesting a donation of $10 per family to cover admission.
