Councilmen Tandy, Unseld to sponsor California Back to School Bash

District 4 Councilman David Tandy and District 6 Councilman George Unseld will co-sponsor the annual California Back to School Bash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at California Park, 16th and St. Catherine streets. During the event, the California Federation will distribute backpacks and school supplies for up to 800 children on a first come, first served basics. Children must be accompanied by an adult to receive the free supplies, and both will be required to fill out a registration form at the event.
In addition, information booths will be provided by various community programs, including Making Connections Works; Louisville Community Design Center; Metropolitan College; Success By 6; Louisville Asset Building Coalition; School Readiness Ambassadors; Career Resources Inc.; UPS; JCPS Family Education; Louisville Free Public Library; Louisville Urban League; and Louisville Metro Police. Attendees will be required to visit four booths to receive the school supplies.
The California Federation is a group of California residents, businesses and agencies who resolve to work together to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood, which is bordered by Broadway, Oak, 15th and 26th streets.
