The Storm Debris Drop-Off event at Highview Park has concluded and has been declared a huge success, with as significantly more material being dropped-off than ever expected. Councilman James Peden, sponsor of the event stated, “It is obvious to anyone stopping by the park in the past few days that this event was needed. I will be working with Metro Government Departments to make this pilot program an annual event.”
The large amount of debris dropped off by South-end residents has caused Metro Louisville’s Solid Waste Management Department to call in an industrial-sized chipper. The chipper and crew are expected to that working most of the afternoon to reduce the size of the piles. As an added bonus, materials chipped today will be converted into a new form of bio-fuel.
