Metro Councilman Doug Hawkins (District 25) will host a seminar describing ways parents can ensure their child’s safe use of the internet. The seminar will be held on Wednesday, February 28 in the auditorium of Jefferson Community and Technical College’s Southwest Campus (1000 Community College Drive).
The seminar will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be lead by Councilman Hawkins. Councilman Hawkins will be joined by Special Agent David J. Beyer (Federal Bureau of Investigation), Dr. Tony L. Sheppard (Psy.D., CGP), Donna Lampe (Director of Information Technology for Innovative Productivity, Inc.) and Fadi Younis (MCSE, MCSA, Network Administrator for Innovative Productivity, Inc.).
Participants will be given information on how both parents and children can recognize various online threats, avoid cyber-bullying and what tools parents need to protect their household from online predators.
The seminar will last approximately 2 hours, with plenty of time for questions and answers at the conclusion of each segment. This seminar is free to the public, but only open to parents, guardians and educators due to the nature of some of the topics being discussed.
Due to limited seating, persons interested in participating in the seminar are encouraged to RSVP the office of Councilman Doug Hawkins at 574-1125 or via e-mail at doug.hawkins@louisvilleky.gov.
