Louisville, KY – Members of the Metro Council’s Public Safety Committee, Councilman Kevin Kramer (District 11), Councilman Kelly Downard (District 16), and Councilman James Peden (District 23) will tour River Metals Recycling (2114 Metal Lane, 40206) today, July 25th at 3:00 p.m. in preparation for further discussion of an ordinance addressing secondhand, scrap, and junk dealers. The recent increases in price of many precious metals have created a significant theft problem throughout the community, specifically with copper tubing. The ordinance is intended to address this escalating problem and assist Metro Police in investigating and arresting those who attempt to sell stolen metals. The tour will provide council members with an opportunity to gather information on the operation of these facilities and engage in a dialogue with the owners on how to improve the ordinance.
