On Saturday June 7th, Southwest Jefferson County will welcome a soon to be popular place of business from local farmers, fresh produce and teeming with consumers visiting the Southwest Farmers Market at Valley High School.
“We have had some devoted people to make this a reality,” says Councilman Bob Henderson (D) 14. “Now, it is time to get started and see what we can grow from here.”
The Southwest Farmers Market opens for business on Saturday, June 7th from 8:00am to 12:00 Noon at Valley High School, 10200 Dixie Highway. The Market will open every Saturday through the fall growing season.
“I think this will be something that everyone will enjoy,” says Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D) 13. “It helps our local farmers and it also brings back the feel of going to the Market on Saturday to see fresh produce and farm foods.”
Henderson and Welch along with Councilman Doug Hawkins (R) 25 provided funding to help the Southwest Famers Market get underway. Funding and planning was also provided by Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth.
