Metro Council Members and LMPD‘s 4th Division focus on block watch training

Monday March 4, 2013

Louisville – As a way to keep neighborhoods one step ahead of criminals, a training session for block watches in LMPD’s 4th Division will get underway on Tuesday, March 5th. Partnering with LMPD in the effort are several members of the Louisville Metro Council.

“Block watches are an important tool to keep a neighborhood safe.” says Councilwoman Marianne Butler (D-15). “The 4th Division is including this training session as part of its 90 Days and 90 Nights campaign for crime prevention.”

This is the third year Neighborhood Development Funds have been used to fund the training session. Joining Butler as sponsors of the training session are Dan Johnson (D-21), David James (D-6), David Tandy (D-4), Jim King (D-10) and Mary C. Woolridge (D-3).

The session will cover several areas for those involved in block watches. It will be an opportunity to for people to meet one another and help spread the word about the importance of having an active neighborhood block watch program. Officers will share new trends in crime prevention.

“Public safety is a top priority for the Council," said Butler.

The event begins at 5:30pm and will be held at the South Louisville Community Center, 2911 Taylor Blvd.
