Metro Councilmen Benson and Engel to participate in 18th Annual Floyds Fork Creek Sweep

574-1204 / 645-1752 (mobile) Louisville, KY – Councilmen Stuart Benson (District 20) and Robin Engel (District 22) will work with the Floyds Fork Environmental Association, Canoe Kentucky, Brightside, Metro Solid Waste Management, and Metro Parks in support of the 2009 Floyds Fork Creek Sweep. The Creek Sweep will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with registration starting 8:30 a.m. at Floyd’s Fork Park (located at Old Taylorsville and South Pope Lick Road).

9:00am-Councilman Stuart Benson & Councilman Robin Engel
Announcements: assign clean up on foot areas
Canoe & Cleanup Instructions (short run or long run)
9:30am-Transport to canoe launch sites (two places)
Noon – 1pm Arrive at take out point where Metro Louisville officials will assist with the proper disposal of debris and bags. Volunteers will be transported back to Floyds Fork Park for a free picnic lunch.
Breakfast, a picnic lunch and some canoes with life jackets and paddles with be provided to those attending. Those participants who have canoes & kayaks are encouraged to bring them. Sponsors will also provide all volunteers with trash bags and other items. All participants are encouraged to bring boots, gloves and wear durable clothing to the event.
