Thank you very much for your interest in participating in the 9th annual Parade of Cultures – a key feature of WorldFest!

Date: Saturday, September 3, 2011

Signs & FlagsWe will provide signs identifying the country and the flags. At the end of the Parade, the flag bearer will place the flag in an open flag base next to the stage. Immediately following the parade, please return the sign to a parade volunteer or staff person.

Parade Dress: All groups are encouraged to wear the traditional outfit of your native country. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. A limited number of parade fans will be handed out for participants to wave as they march the parade route.

Walking time: An average of 30/40 minutes, although people should estimate 2 hours of time from the beginning of line-up to the end of the parade. After the parade, please stay to enjoy WorldFest! You may choose to “eat around the world”, visit any of the over xxxx information booths, enjoy the free children activities, watch some exciting international dance or listen to live performances of international music on 3 stages!

Each country/cultural group will walk in the follow order:

Africa

Asia

Europe

South America

Central America

Caribbean

North America

 

General Rules:

  • Walk behind the sign that you are representing
  • Walk steadily but slowly & Keep your group together
  • Stay close to the group in front of your group
  • Encourage your group to smile and waive to the crowd
  • As a sign of respect, please refrain from singing or shouting
  • Signs, banners or other kinds of display are not allowed

Celebrate your Culture or Country of Origion!

  • Purchase small 4” x 4” flags of your country for your participants to waive
  • Encourage your group to wear your traditional outfits
  • Wear something that will tie your group together – for example, create a special T-shirt or wear a sash across your chest or around your waist in your country colors.
