Seasonal Employment
Metro Parks hires seasonal employees throughout the year to help us provide quality park and recreation services to the community. The seasonal positions listed below may be available. Please be aware that not all positions are available at all times.

Park Aide: Maintenance and upkeep of Parks and Golf Courses

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Walk distances up to 5 miles while operating a mower or weedeater
  • Spend prolonged period of time bending, stretching, standing and walking
  • Able to work outdoors

Recreation Aide: Participate and lead recreational activities at a recreational or nature center 

  • Work with children of various ages and diverse backgrounds
  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. – equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Able to teach crafts, games or other recreational activities
  • Concessions/Cashier : Perform cashier work at pools, concession stands, or gift shops
  • Able to spend prolonged periods of time sitting or standing
  • Able to learn to operate a keyboard or cash register.
  • Must be able to communicate with the public
  • Able to do food prep under Board of Health guidelines

Lifeguard: Oversee swimming pools to insure a safe and sanitary environment

  • Possess and maintain lifeguard certification, CPR and First Aid
  • Able to observe swimmers for safety and sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations
  • Able to exercise tact and diplomacy when interacting with the public

Requirements for All Seasonal Positions:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age 
  • Available to work varying shifts, including possible weekends and evenings
  • Able to work outside
  • Provide acceptable forms of identification as required by law
