Thursday March 9, 2006
Historic Locust Grove is holding its second annual Used Book Sale to benefit the site’s education and preservation programs on Friday, March 10th through Sunday, March 12th, from 10-4:30 on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday from 1 to 4:30. Museum members are invited to an evening preview on Thursday, March 9th, from 6:30 to 8:30.
The sale will feature all categories of books, from mysteries to children’s books, cookbooks to reference books. Books are priced at $2.00 for hardcovers, $1.00 for trade paperbacks, and $.50 for regular paperbacks, with a few special books priced higher. Sunday will be a bargain day – fill a bag for $5.00.
Last year’s sale raised funds to pay for buses for field trips for schools that could not otherwise afford a visit to the site.
Up until the date of the sale, Locust Grove is accepting donations of used books (paperbacks and hardcovers) in good condition, and antiquarian (antique) books in any condition, as well as CDs, videos, DVDs, and audio books. Please, no magazines, encyclopedias, or textbooks. Drop off at Locust Grove anytime. If dropping books off is difficult, call 897-9845 to arrange for pickup. All donations are tax-deductible, with a receipt provided on request.
Locust Grove is located on Blankenbaker Lane, between Brownsboro Road and River Road, about six miles from downtown Louisville. Take the Zorn Avenue exit from I-71 or the Brownsboro Road exit from I-264 (full directions are available on our website, www.locustgrove.org).
