Dates set for Summer Chamber Series

Tuesday May 27, 2008

Ten dates are set for the Mayor’s Summer Chamber Concert Series, which will bring professional musicians from the Louisville Orchestra to selected local libraries and community centers across the city. The Louisville Orchestra, Metro Parks and Mayor Jerry Abramson have partnered for the second consecutive year for the performances, which will take place beginning June 30 at the St. Matthews Branch Library and continue through July.

“We are excited to be able to partner with the Louisville Orchestra and bring these inspiring programs into the neighborhoods,” Mayor Jerry Abramson said. “With performances at 10 different sites, residents are going to have the opportunity to listen to world class music almost literally in their own backyard.”

Thanks to the partnership, the performances will be offered free of charge. Those who want to attend and have any special requests for seating should call the facility in which the performances are taking place.

“The Louisville Orchestra is thrilled to be further expanding our relationship with Metro Parks,” said Deborah Sunya Moore, director of education and community engagement for the orchestra. “It is through this strong partnership that the orchestra is able to engage with more people in the Metro area, and make music an integral part of community life.”
