Metro Parks Golf Course Greens Fees to Increase

Golf Course Rate Increases to Take Effect March 1
For the first time in two years, Metro Parks has adopted minimal increases in greens fees at the 9 public golf courses it operates throughout Louisville.
The increases do not exceed $0.75 per 18-hole round, and in most cases are only $0.25 or $0.50. The rate increases will go into effect March 1. Metro Parks last increased greens fees in 2006. Before that, the last increase came in 1999. When officials increased the rates in 2006, they decided that any future rate increases would be tied to the Consumer Price Index, a measure of the average price of consumer goods and services purchased by households.
According to Metro Parks Director Mike Heitz, the municipal courses remain the best bargain around for the novice or advanced golfer, even with the increases.
“Unfortunately, the rise in fuel, labor and supply costs has forced us to make some adjustments,” Heitz said. “However, we are still pleased to be able to offer the golfer an experience in terms of price and quality that is unmatched by cities of our size in this region.”
In addition to the rate increases, Metro Parks is making a change in its advance tee time policy. In the past, a $0.50 per golfer fee was applied to groups who reserved an advance tee time on Tuesday or Wednesday for the following weekend at municipal courses. Beginning March 1, there will be no additional charges for groups who reserve a tee time up to seven days in advance. Groups reserving tee times more than seven days in advance may still be charged a $0.50 per person fee. Greens fees must be paid 20 minutes prior to the reserved tee time or the time will be forfeited.
